The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences is designed for students to gain a strong foundation in the basic sciences and liberal arts and prepare for careers in pharmacy or other health care professions. Students who select a major in pharmaceutical sciences will gain a background in chemistry, mathematics and biological sciences.
Coursework in these fields is required to seek admission to graduate programs in the sciences and health care and professional programs in pharmacy, dentistry, optometry, veterinary medicine, podiatry and more. The degree allows students to pursue an integrated Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences. While any major at the University can prepare you to enter the pharmacy program, the curriculum in this degree consists of three years of undergraduate work followed by a four-year professional program. Coursework for the first professional year overlaps with coursework required in the senior year of the undergraduate program so that students may earn a bachelor’s degree at the conclusion of the first year of the Pharm.D. program.
