PHRC 5131 - Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics

This course will focus on the study of the rate processes involved in drug absorption and disposition. Instruction includes basic pharmacokinetic principles necessary for understanding individualized dosing regimens as well as a discussion of the effects of the physicochemical properties of the drug, route of administration and dosage form (including traditional and novel drug delivery systems) on drug bioavailability and therapeutic effectiveness. The course provides practical experience in solving problems using pharmacokinetic parameters obtained from actual patient data to design intravascular and extravascular multiple and single dosage regimens.

Prerequisite(s): PHRC 4123  and PHSC 4101  with a C- or better.
