SOCI 2210 - Principles of Sociology

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to what sociologists study and how they study it. Students will read and talk about a variety of topics, including social inequality, the influence of groups on behavior, how culture shapes people’s lives, and lots of things in between. Students will learn about the major theoretical approaches and concepts used by sociologists, as well as the methodological tools they use to make sense of the social world. The goal of this course is to demonstrate the relevance of sociological thinking and research for students’ professional and personal lives.
